Education Benefits Have you ever wished that you had continued your education and now you can't seem to save the money for college or a trade school?  Well we have a solution for you!  As a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard your are entitled to the Montgomery GI Bill, which is approximately $20,000.00 for you to use at a college or trade school of your choice*.  We also have the "Kicker", which is an added bonus to the GI Bill.  Currently the Kicker adds another $200.00 to your monthly drill paycheck, TAX FREE!!!!  The Tennessee Army National Guard also offers 100% Tuition Assistance to use at any approved education center.   What Do We Want From You In Return Nothing much considering the benefits that you will receive as a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard.  Once you complete Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), your obligation is for you to attend scheduled training assemblies with our unit.  This equates normally to One Weekend a Month and a Two Week Annual Training during the Summer each year.  We have attended Annual Training at Ft Stewart, GA, Ft Hood, TX, Ft Pickett, VA, Ft Knox, KY, Gowen Field, Boise, ID, Ft Iwrin, CA (NTC), Camp Shelby, MS  just to name a few.  We have also been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III (OIF III) to Kuwait and Iraq. As you can see, you will see parts of the country or even the world as a Tennessee Army National Guard member.
